We are excited to announce that Dr. Nozair Khawaja has joined Mareekh Dynamics as an advisor. Dr. Khawaja brings a wealth of expertise from his work on various international space missions, including NASA's Europa-Clipper and JAXA's Destiny+, where he is contributing to ground-breaking research on the habitability of icy moons like Enceladus and Europa. His involvement with NASA's Cassini mission and ESA’s future Lunar Gateway project adds unparalleled insight to our team.
Currently based at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, Dr. Khawaja is leading efforts to calibrate dust analysers for the Destiny+ mission, which will explore asteroid Phaethon. In addition to his research, he lectures on planetary science and astrobiology at Freie University Berlin and has designed innovative experiments simulating hydrothermal conditions on icy moons.
Dr. Khawaja’s work in detecting biosignatures in space, interstellar dust, and his role as the lead guest editor for a special issue of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A, focusing on dust in the solar system, highlights his exceptional contributions to space science. We are honoured to have him on board as we continue to push the boundaries of space exploration and habitat development on Mars and at very high-altitude low atmospheric environments, such as the mines in Andes.
Welcome to the team, Dr. Khawaja!
